Poetic Fabric

A metaphor for the coming of eternal rest

In honor of Julia de Burgos’ poem titled “Poema para mi muerte,” I created a drawing reflecting the author’s description of death. Her words reflect her rocky mental state during her last years of life. The red fabric is a symbol for death as it slowly covers with the passing of life. Eventually, it completely covers one to block the light of day and to bring eternal rest.
